Agentic AI is all the buzz these days. A new book on the subject points to two big conclusions, both about the future of work by human beings (not AI). The first is that human beings, properly skilled and trained, will retain a key role as the ones exercising judgment and applying “taste.” Think steward or standard bearer vs. author or maker. How so? By having the skills to make good judgments and being aligned with the standards, style, voice, etc. that your business is putting out into the marketplace. The second is a sort of “k-curve” in terms of employment. Some employees, demonstrating curiosity and agility, will be immensely valuable. Others, who have been in the role of executing tasks or plans, will wake up to realize they’ve been outmoded. What will be their place in the new economy?
