Long Covid: The Ongoing Effect of COVID-19 on Work and Society

While legislative and other efforts have helped support businesses over the last few years, the pandemic’s effects continue to reveal themselves. For instance, as of December 2021, estimates suggest Wisconsin lost 15% of its restaurants. A survey from Kane Communications Group and Santiago Global Consulting suggests that “half of working women in Wisconsin are thinking about quitting their jobs.” While a top contributing factor  according to the survey is a generalized sentiment of being undervalued, the pandemic has exacerbated existing underlying issues such as mental health, work and home life balance, childcare, and stress.
