Joint Employment Status Still Unsettled

Last week, the House of Representatives voted to repeal the National Labor Relations Board rule adopted in October 2023 which would have taken effect in February. At the crux of the controversy is a change that would treat companies as joint employers of contractors and franchise workers when they control certain working conditions. While President Biden has already indicated he will veto the resolution to repeal should it come to his desk, this action (in conjunction with its widespread opposition by businesses and others) does signify that there may be more to come—stay tuned.
