Human Value

In The Awakened Brain, author and psychologist, Lisa Miller, speaks to Barry-Wehmiller Chairman and CEO Bob Chapman’s observations of fulfillment and value in the workplace:

Yet the vast majority of people in this country—88 percent—feel they work in an organization that does not care about them. Chapman said, “We came to realize that the way our team members are treated at work has a profound impact on the way they return home and treat their spouses and children. His awakening can be summed up by one simple statement: “I want to send people home fulfilled, knowing that who they are and what they do matters.” He sees his role much differently now; instead of managing people for his own success, he strives to create human value in harmony with economic value, driven by this leadership vision: “We measure success by the way we touch the lives of people.”
