Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services (DHS) is submitting a request to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for an additional 30 days of Medicaid coverage for women after giving birth (raising the current 60 days of coverage to 90). DHS published the draft waiver request on April 6, and is seeking public comment on the request through May 6, 2022. While well short of Governor Evers’ goal of one year of coverage, the Wisconsin legislature’s agreement to add 30 days does represent a compromise of sorts.
