While many businesses have started to pivot back from “survival mode” to some semblance of normal, this comes with a few surprises such as payroll taxes for employees working from home who are now categorized as out-of-state employees (i.e., their home is in a different state than the business). Other questions are arising around communication and productivity, as well as the transition from working from home during a pandemic to ongoing remote or hybrid work.
